Language Resources

I develop and maintain the following language resources:

Language Tags for the Multilingual Semantic Web

1 Resource Type:  Website, API

For lesser-known languages, variants and other lects which do not have an equivalent ISO 639 language code, Gillis-Webber and Tittel (2019) proposed a pattern for the privateuse portion of BCP 47's language tag. This resource enables language tags to be generated according to this pattern. In addition, a language tag can be decoded from this pattern, and where applicable, the data returned also includes information from the latest versions of ISO 639 Parts 1-3. An API endpoint is also provided, with login using OAuth2 and GitHub credentials.

Londisizwe.org - Multilingual Dictionary for Nurses and Doctors

1 Resource Type:  Website, with lexical entries also available in Terse RDF Triple Language (Turtle)

This multilingual online dictionary is constructed according to the Linguistic Linked Data framework proposed by Gillis-Webber (2018). The lexical entries from The English-Xhosa Dictionary for Nurses has been used as seed data. This resource continues to form a component of my PhD research.
